OWW! I feel good!!! funk drum tabs

September 13th, 2006

YES! I’ve finally found some actual funk drum tabs courtesy of a James Brown fansite. James Brown’s I got you (I feel good) and Papa’s got a brand new bag can be found on One Love Drum Tabs . Besides that great news, I’ve added a forum to the site to foster a little more interaction and I’ve finally added a “submit tab” feature. The submit tab is being tempermental however and isn’t quite online yet. Alright. Keep a drumming. MG

Website news

September 7th, 2006

I do apoligize, its been some time since I’ve updated the site. That being said, things are rolling again! I’ve made some minor cosmetic changes, made organization progress, and have cleaned up the code (not that anyone can see it..). Expect to see new tabs coming on line every day. Yeah drum tabs!

Reader Interaction on drum tab site

August 23rd, 2006

After almost two months of being in business, I finally received an email from someone commenting on the site and sending me some drum tabs. This is the kind of drum community I would love to build where there is interaction and discussion. Drum tabs aren’t particularly prone to discussion but you get the idea.

On a different note, collage has started back up so faster internet is at my disposal. On the downside, updates to the site might become a little less frequent. We shall see…MG

Guitar Tabs Blog

August 16th, 2006

The MPA (Music Publishers Association?) has been threatening tab sites recently. They have apparently been having quite a bit of success since many of the major tab sites have closed their doors. Guitar Tab Blog is following the matter and contains some recent events and news. First music, then movies, now tabs. What’s next? Recipe sites?

Funk Drum tabs

August 13th, 2006

If you have ever listened to any James Brown, you have had the pleasure of hearing two of the most influential and amazing drummers of any era: Jabo Starks and Clyde Stubblefield.  These two masters laid down track after track of body moving beats but unfortunately, I have had quite a bit of trouble finding tabs out there.  On the same note, I have found very few funk tabs in general making me want to specialize in this type of tab.  Sounds pretty snazzy: Funk Master Drum Tabs….or something… MG

An Inconvenient Truth: A review

August 6th, 2006

I know this has nothing to do with drum tabs….but…..I recently watched former vice president Al Gore’s new movie on global warming titled An Inconvenient Truth and found it to be both educational and a bit cheesy. The core of the movie is a slide show about global warming that Gore has been giving throughout the world over the past few years. He speaks in layman’s terms and presents a future that is very bleak, but very convincing. The timing of the movie couldn’t have been more perfect as record heat waves are hitting both the entire east coast and many other parts of the country as well.

The second emphasis of the movie is really a biography of Al Gore, and what he has done. There are several scenes that focus on Gore’s previous political background and also his upbringing. He even speaks about deaths in the family and almost losing his only son. While this can be touching at times, it tends to the cheesy side of the spectrum and doesn’t fit into the movie all that well.

Despite this, I support the movie wholeheartedly simply because it is getting the broad public involved in the discussion of global warming, and in turn, the environment as a whole. Well done Al.

Yet Another Drum tabs update…..

July 28th, 2006

I know this may be getting a little dull, but the drum tab website is doing wonderful! All of the artist pages have been loaded, with many of them holding tabs and traffic is beginning to show up. Various cosmetic changes are occuring almost daily but major changes will be needed fairly soon. It seems to me that drummers are in short supply and hopefully, the availibility of free tabs will help foster more interest in drumming.

Recent work on the drum tab website

July 20th, 2006

The drum tabs website seems to be moving along pretty well, given that I am only spending less than an hour a day working on it. I’ve added a google search and have created most of the letter pages.  Unfortunately, the actual adding of tabs is quite time consuming, and there are few to be had.  However, don’t give up hope!  More tabs are coming and constant updating is occuring.  On a side note, I seem to be learning more about HTML and dreamweaver than about playing the drums or writing drum tab.  Anyway, I think the next article might take a look at some of the drum tab software out there. OH BOY!
